Pei-Yu Shih, a freshman from the Department of Physical Therapy and Assistive Technology, made an impressive debut at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games. On September 30, she competed in the Women’s 10,000 m Roller Skating Points Elimination Race, securing a gold medal with a time of 21 minutes. Pei-Yu Shih’s remarkable performance marked her as the first gold medalist in roller skating at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Coach Jyong-Jhu Wu expressed that winning silver and gold for the Chinese women’s team was expected, and Pei-Yu Shih’s journey from the training team to where she is now has seen significant growth for everyone involved.He stated, “Taiwan has a bright future in this sport.” Pei-Yu Shih said, “Originally, my goal was to win a medal, but I am overjoyed to have won the gold. The moment I came back, I was deeply moved, and it felt like a dream come true.”
