NYCU Expands Collaboration with IIT Delhi in Semiconductors and Beyond: Renewed Memorandum and Strategic Cooperation in Biomedicine, Energy, and Humanities.

On October 30th, 2023, Professor Edward Yi Chang, the Head of NYCU’s International College of Semiconductor Technology, led a delegation to visit Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT Delhi). They were received by Prof. Rangan Banerjee, President of IIT Delhi, and Prof. Naresh Bhatnagar, Director of the Research and Development. The bilateral cooperation program between NYCU and IIT Delhi has received long-term support from the Department of Higher Education in the Ministry of Education. This visit not only involved renewing the collaborative memorandum but also included a joint presentation on the outcomes of the existing bilateral cooperation projects. During the meeting, both parties also decided to actively expand cooperation between the two institutions into areas such as biomedicine, energy, humanities, etc. Furthermore, Director of Research and Development at IIT Delhi pledged to annually send at least 50 doctoral students to study at NYCU. Both institutes aim to engage in substantive research exchanges and collaboration in applications fields such as drones, smart manufacturing, electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles, carbon capture and utilization, renewable energy, hydrogen energy, etc., thereby further enhancing and deepening the partnership between the two institutions.

Since 2016, NYCU has maintained close cooperation with IIT Delhi and has initiated extensive academic exchanges in multiple fields. The International College of Semiconductor Technology created has been building projects that respond to the “Implementation Plan for Recruiting International Students in Taiwan” of Ministry of Education; the institute seeks to attract outstanding students from countries under New Southbound Policy to study in Taiwan with securing of their employment after they graduate. The college also continues to deepen cooperation in the New Southbound regions by promoting international academic exchanges to enhance the international reputation of our university. This delegation, led by the Head of the International College of Semiconductor Technology, Professor Edward Yi Chang, visited India, where they engaged in the memorandum of cooperation renewal ceremony hosted by Prof. Rangan Banerjee, the Director of IIT Delhi, and Prof. Naresh Bhatnagar, the Head of the Research and Development Department. It is believed that through continuous cooperation, NYCU’s research achievements in the semiconductor field will further nurture talents in the semiconductor industry.

NYCU has always valued the importance of international academic cooperation. The dual Ph.D. program between the International College of Semiconductor Technology and IIT Delhi has not only achieved remarkable academic outcomes but has also nurtured numerous outstanding doctoral students. This mutually beneficial relationship enriches our university’s teaching resources and provides local students with a diverse international learning environment, motivating and enhancing the international competitiveness of our students. The International College of Semiconductor Technology will continue its efforts to provide superior educational resources and academic environments.
